Hello everyone. I’ve got something very special in store for you today. With the arrival of Halloween, come lots and lots of candy and overindulgence in things that both go bump in the night and add to the bump in the stomach and gluteal areas. That’s your gut and your “BOOty” if you’re not following too closely. I threw that little BOO part in there to stay in the spirit.

 

Anyhow, since I’m not one who truly celebrates Halloween, I do have the appreciation for sitting down with family and friends and sharing quality time with one another. And why not use the celebration of Halloween as an opportunity to flesh out something healthy. That’s why, I’m here to share with you, my recipe for an incredible smoothie that will make you feel yummy inside, without adding to the tummy outside. I call this, the BOO-berry Tru-cherry Delight.

Ingredients are as follows:

1 TBSP of protein powder (Whey)

1 TSPN of vanilla extract

1 TBSPN of honey

8-10 Mandarin Cherries

½ cup of Strawberries – save one for later

½ cup of water

½ cup of 100% Juice (your choice of orange, watermelon, apple or mango)

2 cups of Ice

Instructions:

In a blender, add your water, protein powder, cherries, and strawberries. Blend these together until thickened, not liquefied. Then, follow with ice, juice, water, vanilla extract, and honey. Blend again for 1-2 minutes, adding a little more juice or water as you see fit for the type of consistency you are looking for. I prefer a nice slushy thickness myself, but it’s up to you. This should make for at least 3-4 8 ounce glasses. Take that remaining strawberry and cut it into fourths, adding it to the rim of each glass for style, and Walla! The color should be festive and the taste should be sweet and BOO-tiful.
